The Markle Foundations E-mail for All Outreach Campaign The E-MAIL FOR ALL campaign is an integral part of the Markle Foundations work to encourage the use of new communications technologies for socially beneficial purposes. The Foundation recognizes that there is support for the principle of universal access to e-mail and the Internet. However, important questions remain unanswered:
- Who will pay for the education and equipment necessary for creating universal access?
- Who will benefit from universal access? How will they benefit?
- What is the responsibility of government?
- What is the responsibility of business?
In an effort to formulate answers, the Markle Foundation supports research by RAND, Bellcore Laboratory, the Brookings Institution, and Carnegie Mellon University. E-MAIL FOR ALL is the outreach component of the Markle-funded research, designed to stimulate a national dialogue on these issues.
